Social Cinema Program
The ESR Center and Students for International Development are co-sponsoring a Social Cinema program. Monthly, they will screen a short documentary about national/international social issues. They will be starting starting this upcoming Tuesday, April 6th at 6pm in TNRB 251 with the documentary, "Small Fortunes," a film made by BYU about how microcredit and microfranchising, two hot topics in development, are changing the future of poverty around the world. The film is shorter than an hour and will be followed by a brief discussion about microfinance and its impacts (including health outcomes in developing nations). Aside from those pre-meds interested in humanitarian work, the films will be a great way to learn about current events, gain a broader sociological perspective, and learn potential material for the MCAT written section and interviews.
